Host a Telegram bot 24/7 without managing a server
Updated 2026-10-28
A Telegram bot has to run all the time — on your laptop it stops the moment you close the lid. Here’s how to keep it online without learning server administration.
Steps
-
Sign in to the console, top up a few dollars and connect your agent (Agents → Create token → paste the command).
-
In the bot’s folder ask your agent:
Deploy this bot so it runs 24/7. Keep it running until I delete it.
-
The agent creates a small server, copies the bot there, stores the bot token as an environment variable and starts it so it restarts automatically.
Webhook or polling?
- Long polling (the default in most libraries) needs no public address.
- Webhooks need HTTPS: ask the agent to “publish the bot at my-bot” — it gets
https://my-bot.agentsworkforme.comand registers it with Telegram.
Keeping it on
“Keep running until I delete it” extends the server a day at a time while your balance allows. You’ll see the bot’s server, its cost and every charge in the console.
FAQ
Does the bot need a public address?
Only if it uses webhooks. Bots that use long polling work without one; for webhooks the agent publishes an https://name.agentsworkforme.com address.
Where do I keep the bot token?
On the server, in an environment variable or a .env file the agent creates. Don't paste it into public chats or repositories.
How much does a bot cost to host?
A small server ($0.01 per hour, about $7 a month) is enough for most bots.
